This is a variant of the Cross Body Lead where the follower does an Inside Turn (towards the leader). The leader initiates this by moving the left hand inwards.
It is important that the leader indicates this move by turning the lady slightly outwards using the right hand. This prepares the lady for the turn. This creates a bit more distance for the left hands to hold.
It is possible to let go of the left hand and, on count 5 or 6, use the left hand to turn the lady through the shoulder or hip.
The leader often does the Inside Turn as part of a longer combination from a Reverse Handshake.
