This is a variant of the Cross Body Lead where the follower does an Outside Turn (away from the leader). The leader initiates this by moving the left hand forward.
It is important that the leader indicates this move by turning the lady inwards using the left hand. This prepares the lady for the turn. It is also important that the leader, right before the turn, lets go of the follower with the right hand.
